Students interested in the JD/MMP must meet the admissions requirements for both Delaware Law and the School of Marine Science and Policy at the University of Delaware.
Most students apply to the Law School’s JD program and then, during the student’s third or fourth semester, apply to the marine science and policy school; but a student in the second or third semester at the Graduate College of Marine Studies may also enter the JD/MMP program by seeking admission to Delaware Law.
In order to earn the JD/MMP, students must complete a curriculum of required credit hours for law school and marine studies courses. Some law school credits will be accepted as elective credits towards the master’s degree in marine policy and some marine studies credits will be accepted as elective credits towards the juris doctor.
Students must complete a thesis on a law and marine policy issue to successfully complete the dual degree program.
